Practical Help

Transport Service

We have approximately 10 volunteer drivers who help carers access appointments, visits and any other necessary journeys which help them in their caring role. Our priority for transport is for health related appointments or hospital visits.  We do however provide transport for other occasions or events as long as it will benefit the carer and we have a driver available.

Note: This service incurs a small charge of 50p per mile.

Sitting / Befriending Service

We provide a sitting/befriending service and this is where a volunteer goes to the carer or person being cared for’s house and sits with a disabled or elderly person to allow the carer to have a few hours break.

All volunteers are checked through the Criminal Records Bureau and receive appropriate training from our Centre.

We do not expect volunteers to perform any kind of personal care and do a home visit prior to the volunteer being allocated to enable us to carry out a risk assessment and allocate the most appropriate volunteer.

Please contact Christine Laskey on 01325 313123 for more details or to request a leaflet which explains more about each service.
