In County Durham, workers within the Young Carers Projects can act as advocates for young carers in their area. The Young Carers Projects can also put young people in touch with specialist youth advocacy schemes if this is appropriate.
The Princess Royal Trust for Carers have recently launched a new Young Carers website www.youngcarers.net which provides information and advice for young people under 18, who are caring for someone at home. Employing online youth workers, YCNet is able to provide a pre-moderated discussion board, fully supervised chat sessions and a question and answer email service. The site also contains information sections for relatives and professionals.
